My name is Kian, I am from a town called Port Elizabeth, which is on the East Coast of South Africa. This will be my second summer at CCB.
I have a big and loving family, we have lived close to the beach basically my entire life and I love the outdoors. I am a single child, my dad owns his own business, and my mom is a travel agent, they have traveled extensively. My favorite hobbies are fishing, hiking, swimming in the sea and camping. I have been swimming from a very young age and had lessons from around 5 years old. I love body surfing, surfing, and snorkeling. I am a very sporty outdoor person and I enjoy star watching and wildlife. I represent my school in rugby, where I play lock. I used to play cricket and golf for the school but had to give it up for rugby commitments. There is almost no sport that I haven't practiced in the past at some point.
I am a loyal hardworking person with a lot to offer. I love working with children and helping them where I can. I am also very dedicated.
What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?:
Being chosen as head boy of the boarding school, and also as a prefect in school. It was a really proud moment, and also a huge responsibility that fell on me. Suddenly I was overseeing the entire boys boarding school from grade 8 to grade 12. I was a role model to them, and I ensured that I also do walk the walk. The recognition from my peers and teachers was an honor. What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?:
I enjoy team sports and have been playing rugby and cricket most of my life. And have also enjoyed many other team sports. But I also love leisure sports a lot, such as fishing, snorkeling, body boarding, surfing, kayaking, camping, golf, tennis, volleyball, and cycling, to name a few. What is your favorite thing about working with children?:
My favorite thing to work with children is their attitudes toward life. Children are mostly happy, positive, energetic, carefree, and fun to be around. I enjoy teaching them new skills, especially different sports and outdoor activities. What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?:
I hope to bring joy, laughter, positivity, and adventure to camp. I was brought up being outdoors a lot and my family and I are always doing fun things like camping, and many many sports. I hope to instill this into campers and make an impact as a mentor to the children. What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?:
Taking on new challenges, facing adversity, and always looking after and caring for your fellow camper. Respect, integrity, and loyalty are some of the values I hope to instill in the campers.
