Hello Camp Carolina! My name is Val, I am from Puebla, Mexico. This upcoming summer marks my fourth year at CCB, and I couldn't be happier about it. Over the past summers, I've immersed myself in the kitchen, developing my skills, making delicious food for everyone, and genuinely falling in love with the vibrant atmosphere of that place. Looking forward to another fantastic summer at CCB!
What are you most proud of/biggest achievement in life so far?
I take great pride in a significant achievement in my life – the courage to travel solo to another country. Stepping out of my comfort zone, this journey has been a transformative experience, fostering independence and self-discovery. Embracing the unknown has not only broadened my horizons but also shaped me into a more resilient and self-reliant individual.
What is your favorite hobby/sport/thing to do during your free time?
I enjoy practicing my English with friends, and finding joy and connection through shared conversations. I love being active, so I go to the gym to stay fit and healthy. Traveling, camping, hiking, swimming, especially with friends or family. Exploring my culinary creativity, I love to cook, learn new languages, and be in nature.
What is your favorite thing about working with children?
Working with children can be rewarding for several reasons. Their genuine nature and ability to see the world with wonder make the experience delightful. Additionally, their contagious energy and the chance to contribute to their development and learning add a special dimension to the work.
What impact are you most excited to make this year at CCB?
My primary goal is to ensure that the children feel satisfied, happy, and enjoy every meal. I aim to create lasting memories, particularly in relation to their culinary experience. I am determined to work tirelessly to foster an environment where all children feel supported and happy, leaving a positive imprint on their camp experience.
What goal or camp philosophy do you really want your campers to learn this summer?
I love the idea of children marveling at and respecting nature, appreciating the simplicity of life, and embracing adventure, because these enriching experiences serve as powerful teachers that guide them in developing a range of skills that encompass values, character, confidence, personal growth and the pure joy derived from shared experiences.
